Android TV & Google TV · with the remote

Crictime on your Android TV

Google Play doesn't carry the Crictime TV app. You fetch it with a free helper app and a six-digit code, all from the sofa with the TV remote. It works on TVs and boxes that run Android TV or Google TV, among them Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi, Chromecast with Google TV and the Google TV Streamer. Give it three or four minutes.

1

Get Simple Downloader

Open the Play Store on the TV and search for Simple Downloader. Look for the purple icon; a few other apps use similar names. Install it, then open it.

2

Type the code

At the top of Simple Downloader is one long input bar. Move to it, enter 112233 with the remote, and press the arrow at its end.

The TV app begins to download. On a normal connection it is done in under half a minute.

3

Let the TV install it

After the download, the TV reports that Simple Downloader may not install unknown apps. Every TV says this the first time.

Choose Settings in that message, find Simple Downloader in the list and flip its switch to Allowed. Go back with the remote. The install resumes; confirm with Install.

If the list doesn't show Simple Downloader, or its switch stays off, the setting is hidden on your device. How to unlock it →

Find it among your apps

The app appears in the apps row of the TV's home screen, possibly at the far end. Open it and choose a match with the remote. Simple Downloader has done its job and can be removed.

Other TVs

Amazon Fire TV: no Fire TV app at present. The Silk browser on the Fire TV plays the streams: open play.crictime.is in it and pick a match.

Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS): these TVs accept apps only from their own stores. Open play.crictime.is in the TV's browser, or mirror your phone's screen to the TV.

Problems and fixes

"App not installed". Storage is full on most TVs when this appears. Remove an unused app, delete the downloaded file in Simple Downloader, and enter the code again.

The code opens a search page. It was typed into a different downloader app, or into the wrong field. It belongs in the top bar of the purple Simple Downloader, as six digits without spaces.
